Medication indicated for the treatment of fever and mild to moderate pain due to flu and colds.
Brand: Cêgripe
Description:
Paracetamol is an analgesic medication that also has antipyretic properties. The mechanism of its analgesic action is not fully understood. Paracetamol may act predominantly by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system and, to a lesser extent, by blocking the genesis of pain impulses peripherally. The peripheral action may also be due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis or the synthesis or action of other substances that sensitize nociceptors to mechanical or chemical stimuli. Paracetamol likely produces an antipyretic effect by acting centrally on the hypothalamic temperature-regulating center, producing peripheral vasodilation that leads to increased sweating, increased skin blood flow, and heat loss. The central action is likely related to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the hypothalamus. Chlorpheniramine maleate is a histamine H1 receptor antagonist that is administered orally for the symptomatic relief of hypersensitivity reactions and skin pruritus.
