Indications:

  • Sudden (acute) diarrhea or
    long-term (chronic)
  • If you have had surgery to remove part of your intestines
  • In diarrhea, Imodium Rapid makes stools solid and less frequent.

Composition:

  • Active substance: loperamide
  • 1 tablet contains 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride.
    Other ingredients: gelatin, mannitol, aspartame, menthol flavor and sodium bicarbonate.

Pharmaceutical form:

  • Quick-dissolving tablets to be placed on the tongue, where they dissolve.
  • Do not take with liquids.

The dosage depends on age and type of diarrhea. You can take Imodium Rapid at any time of day.

To remove the tablets from the blister:

  1. lift the corner of the aluminum foil
  2. detach completely
  3. press and remove the tablet

You should not press on the aluminum to remove the tablets, as this may damage them.

Dosage:

Adults (including seniors)

  • Sudden (acute) diarrhea
    • Take 2 tablets at once
    • Then take 1 tablet after each time the stool is loose or pasty.
    • Do not take any more tablets: If you have hard/solid stools, or if it has been 24 hours since your last bowel movement
  • Prolonged (chronic) diarrhea
    • Recommended dose should be indicated by your doctor.
    • Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.

Children over 5 years old:

  • Sudden (acute) diarrhea
    • Take 1 tablet, then take 1 tablet after each time the stool is loose or pasty.
    • Do not take any more tablets: If your stools are hard/solid, or if 24 hours have passed since your last bowel movement
  • Prolonged (chronic) diarrhea
    • The recommended dose should be indicated by the doctor.

Contraindications:

Do not use IMODIUM RAPID if you have:

  • Allergy (hypersensitivity) to loperamide or any other component of Imodium Rapid;
  • Blood in the stool;
  • High fever;
  • Inflammation of the small intestine (e.g., ulcerative colitis or pseudomembranous colitis as a result of antibiotic use);
  • Constipation or if the abdomen is distended;
  • You should not give Imodium Rapid to children under 5 years of age.

 Adverse Reactions:

  • It is generally well tolerated and when taken as recommended, few side effects are likely to occur.
  • Immediately after taking a pill, you may feel a burning sensation on your tongue, which quickly passes.
  • Hypersensitivity is rare. If you experience a rash, itching, shortness of breath, or swelling in your face, see your doctor.
  • Abdominal pain or discomfort, nausea and vomiting, tiredness, dizziness or drowsiness, dry mouth, flatulence which may be due to diarrhea.
  • If constipation, abdominal distension and difficulty urinating occur.
    • In these cases, stop taking Imodium Rapid!
    • If these effects are severe, seek medical help.
