The thyroid test is a self-test with results in 10 minutes that determines thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels in the blood. This test aims to detect the presence of chronic or temporary physiological changes in the thyroid.
Brand: All-test
Description:
The thyroid gland is composed of follicles that synthesize and store thyroid hormones. Its activity is regulated by thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), released by the pituitary gland. The test is intended for people prone to hypothyroidism. The signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism vary depending on the severity of the hormone deficiency. The most common are: increased fatigue, sensitivity to cold, constipation, dry skin, irregular menstruation, weight gain, high cholesterol, weakness, muscle pain, stiffness, and joint swelling.
When to take the test:
The test can be performed if symptoms of hypothyroidism occur, such as fatigue, depression, constant coldness, weight gain, dry skin, brittle hair, prolonged constipation, or menstrual irregularities in women. A rapid TSH test is recommended for screening purposes. The rapid TSH test can be used at any time of day; however, it cannot and should not be performed if you are undergoing thyroid hormone therapy.
Test principle:
The thyroid test is a qualitative lateral flow immunoassay to selectively detect elevated TSH levels in whole blood.
How to perform the test:
1. Prick your finger with the sterile lancet contained in the box;
2. Squeeze your finger until you get a drop of blood and collect it with the plastic pipette;
3. Place the drop of blood on the indicated point on the device;
4. Add the reagent, wait 10 minutes and check the result.
